Joe DeStefano worked side by side with us for 27 years as a Public Safety Communication Supervisor in the Suffolk Sheriff's office. When the opportunity arose for him to continue his service, he stepped up to the plate and ran for the state assembly. In Albany, we know he has our back. After the COVID virus hit, Joe sponsored legislation to designate emergency dispatchers and operators “First Responder” status. He supports the various bills and initiatives that are important to us and is a full-time advocate of the working men and women of our county.

DESTEFANO WINS ENDORSEMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT
Running for reelection on a platform of supporting law and order, Assemblyman Joe DeStefano has won the endorsement of the Coalition of Suffolk Law Enforcement, a group made up of all the major crime fighting departments in the county.
“After careful review, the above referenced Coalition Members are proud to acknowledge your leadership and support of law enforcement professionals and dedication to public safety,” said Noel DiGerolamo, speaking for the coalition. “It is with great confidence our Coalition has unanimously agreed you are the best candidate to hold this office.”

A little about this dedicated group of public servants: The SCCEA was organized and incorporated in 1978 and represents 102 different court titles including, but not limited to, Senior Court Office Assistants, Court Revenue Assistants, Court Officers (all ranks below Chief), Senior Court Clerks, Court Attorneys, and Court Reporters. Their members work in the 1st District Court, Family Court, and Supreme Court in Central Islip, as well as County Court, Surrogates Court, Family Court, and Supreme Court in Riverhead. They also have members working in Lindenhurst (2nd District Court), Huntington (3rd District Court), Hauppauge (4th District Court), Ronkonkoma (5th District Court), and Patchogue (6th District Court).
